charging system on car testing

TTEC 4841 - Electrical and Electronics- Practical

In to days task we did charging  system on car testing.
Before we started we did our visual check by checking the preliminarybefore start testing the charing circuit.

first we checked the charging system drive belt it was nice and tight, and it looked new as well the tensioners it was a pass.

Then we did our ( carry out no load test on the alternator ) Then we did the battery OCV it was 13 volts thats above pass. Then we did our ( regulator voltage spec 13.5 volts to 14.5 volts ) and we had a reading of 14.37 volts. so that was a pass.

after that we used a clamp meter to 400 amps dc to check the no load amps output the ( spec was 5 to 12 amps ) and we had  17.3 amps.

Then we moved on the carry out load test on the alternator. we used a clamp meter set it to 400 amps dc we reved the car to approximatly 2500 revs to get the output amps, our reading was 62 amps and the charging  voltage  under load 8 apms. so the alternator maintained charging so that was a pass.

Then we moved on doing our voltage drop, by reveing the car to 1500 revs turing all accessories on. And all our reading was above the spec so thats a good sign of passing.

That showed us our  alternator is in good condition.
